The Southern Naval Command of the Indian Navy has carried out an extra ordinary a three day long joint exercise between its daredevil Marine Commandoes - MARCOS and the National Security Guards (NSG) from Chennai Hub.


The drill, conducted at  naval base, Kochi from 4-6 May 17 was was aimed at providing a platform for achieving inter-operability and cohesion during joint operations.


The team from NSG consisting of 02 officers, 04 JCOs and 30 commandoes and the MARCOS team with 20 members including two officers undertook counter terrorist exercises including hostage rescue. This is the first time that such an exercise has been conducted at Kochi.


The exercise will be used to fine tune the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be employed during real time joint special forces operations in case of any unforeseen contingencies in future, a Naval officer said.
